Biografie
Blaxtar. The name means different things to various Dutch hiphop minded people in the Netherlands. This versatile lyricist managed to get his cryptic solo debut album Ozmoses across to a broad audience in 2006. Since he’d lost trust in the ways of the industry he decided to launch the project by himself, under the self-created RAEN Music crest. Currently RAEN Music has grown into an artistic platform with seven hiphop acts which all adhere to the principle of writing lyrics that mean to communicate beyond the music. Blaxtar went on to create two more albums whch he released in 2008 (Chronozbaal) and 2010 (OZMO6:2). Meanwhile he was involved in several international projects such as the Virus Free Generation tour and Skopgat. Both campaigns were Music Mayday initiatives and focused on supporting creative African youth. Performing as a support act to hiphop legends ranging from Jay Z and Lil Wayne to Method Man and KRS One solidified Blaxtar’s reputation as a red blooded live performer. In addition to running his label RAEN Music Blaxtar set up a concept event titled SPOKEN, in which artists are challenged to perform their lyrics without any music or other show elements. Participating in SPOKEN himself begot him the tag poet rather soon, as he kept building the platform to include non-hiphop wordsmiths as well. A track Blaxtar had recorded in 2008 with trumpet player/producer Kyteman was released on the musical prodigy’s debut album The Hermit Sessions in 2009. The live shows with Kyteman’s Hiphop Orchestra that accompanied the launch of the album raged through Holland and western Europe, with Blaxtar playing a key role in the performances. The album went platinum as a result of the tour.
Few are aware that the 2006 album Ozmoses was a mere translation of the original project, which was meant to be an English album. Six years after Blaxtar said goodbye to his English repertoire, he returns with a first international record by 2012 titled "A Secret".
